The Florida Everglades
are located in the southern portion of Florida, in parts
of Monroe, Collier, Palm Beach, Miami-Dade, and Broward
counties. The Florida Everglades extends from Lake
Okeechobee on the north to Florida Bay on the south and
features the Ten Thousand Islands. The area is
also home to the Everglades National Park the largest
subtropical wilderness in the U.S. The Everglades
consist of a shallow sheet of fresh water that rolls
slowly over the lowlands and through billions of blades
of sawgrass and features rare and endangered species and
incredible wilderness sightseeing.
