Atlantic Ocean

The Atlantic Ocean is the second-largest ocean, covering approximately one-fifth of the Earth's surface.  Covering approximately 20% of Earth's surface, the Atlantic Ocean is second only to the Pacific in size.  Florida saltwater anglers can fish for more than 100 species of fish.  The Atlantic coast is similar to the Panhandle, with lengthy beaches and an ocean floor that can drop off rapidly. Some of its estuaries are also landlocked, with some having very low salinity and inlets as much as 40 miles apart. One 10-mile stretch of the Atlantic coast, north of Flagler Beach, has exposed rock reminiscent of the coastline of Maine. Each of these habitats offers its own hidden treasures for the saltwater angler.

Gulf of Mexico

The Gulf of Mexico is the ninth largest body of water in the world. It is an ocean basin largely surrounded by the North American continent and the island of Cuba. It is bounded on the northeast, north and northwest by the Gulf Coast of the United States, on the southwest and south by Mexico, and on the southeast by Cuba.  It connects with the Atlantic Ocean through the Florida Straits between the U.S. and Cuba.  Fishing includes: red snapper, amberjack, tilefish, swordfish, and various grouper, as well as shrimp and crabs.
